Skred is a secure and anonymous messaging app available on Android and iOS. Anonymous because you do not have to provide a phone number or email address. Skred uses the available data network, it can be used in Wi-Fi without a SIM card.

Your Skred profile is associated with a "Skredcode" that you can share with other people nearby directly by having it scanned as a QR-Code, or send it as an invitation link by email, SMS, etc.

Skred does not access your contacts. This is why the list is empty on first start. You must therefore send invitations yourself using the main button “Add a contact”. You have control of the invitations sent. The "Invite via your apps" option is probably the easiest.

When you invite a contact to establish a relationship with you on Skred, only an identifier representing your profile is communicated. Nothing else.

Yes. Exchanges are encrypted end-to-end, mobile to mobile. Even Skred's servers have no knowledge of the content of your exchanges. Skred relies on open and secure "WebRTC" technology to exchange text, image, audio or video data. More information on this technology is available at: https://webrtc.org/.

Yes, even your messages. When you send a message to someone, this person is notified and your mobiles will connect to each other to send and receive the message. Skred only informs the recipient's mobile that a message is available, without sending it through our servers.

Since messages do not pass through our servers, the Skred application must be open or active in the background when you receive a message. You must ensure that the application is not prevented from working in the background on your mobile when one of your contacts requests you.
On Android:
• Check that Skred is authorized to receive notifications.
• Go to "Settings > Application > Skred > Permissions > Enable all notifications and background execution permissions.
• If you have a power saving mode, make sure that it does not disable Skred when this mode is active.
• In "Settings > Battery", check that Skred has not been added to a list of "Application in standby" / "Application in deep standby".
On iOS:
• Check that Skred is authorized to receive notifications.
• Make sure background refresh is enabled for Skred, via Settings > General > Background Refresh > Skred.

The "Skredboard" is an advanced feature of Skred. It allows you to create new profiles invisible from your first profiles and whose access is protected by a code that you define. The contacts you add later are also protected and can only contact you or be contacted when you activate your level by its code.

Simply enter the code "0", associated by default with your first level in Skred.

Open the "Skredboard", choose the "Delete" option, enter the code of the level to be deleted, then "OK".

Since Skred is accountless and encrypts its data on the phone, there is currently no reliable method to migrate its profile to a new device for Android.
For iOS, Apple allows a full backup of the phone provided you do it via iTunes and choose an encrypted backup. When restoring to the new device, Skred will find all of its information. This is made possible because the encrypted backup will also embed the security keys generated by Skred.

By uninstalling the application, you will lose your profile, contacts and conversations. If you reinstall it later, you will need to create a new profile and invite your contacts again.

People who have accepted your invitation automatically appear in the "Contacts" list on the home screen.

Each “Contact” listed in your Skred app represents a unique and reciprocal relationship between your device and your contact’s device. Whenever you accept an invitation from someone, Skred creates a new entry in your “Contacts” list, which indicates a new relationship with that contact’s device. This means that you can have multiple relationships with the same person, such as a work relationship and a personal relationship, each with a different nickname and avatar.
If you remove a contact entry, only the associated relationship is removed, and it does not affect any other relationships you may have with the same person.

On Android devices, install the application on your new device and transfer your account data from your old device using the account migration service, accessible from Settings / Help / Accounts / Account migration.
On iOS devices, you should be able to use the standard iOS back-up/restore services, with the encryption option “ON”.
Account migration between iOS and Android devices, as well as back-up/restore on external media to cope with lost or stolen devices, are currently under development.

Skred stands out from other instant messaging services because it does not rely on content distribution servers to store and forward messages. Instead, messages are sent directly between devices in real-time using a “peer-to-peer” approach. Both the sender and recipient need to be online for messages to be transferred, and the contents remain on the sender’s device until both parties are active with a working internet connection. This design decision prioritizes user privacy by avoiding leaving traces of conversations on the network.
To ensure optimal performance, it is important that users configure their device so that Skred can run and receive notifications in the background, and is not subject to battery optimization. Android device configuration can be checked at https://dontkillmyapp.com. Additionally, it is recommended to use the app regularly so that the operating system considers it important and does not kill it. If messages do not appear, you can refresh the application by “zapping” it.
With Skred, when a message is sent, it means that the recipient has received it, but it may not have been seen. Other chat services may immediately send your contents to the distribution server, but not necessarily to the recipient if they’re not online.

All conversations are end-to-end encrypted and happen in peer-to-peer directly from device to device, with no staging server storing contents in between.
Encryption works transparently in the background and doesn’t need to be activated first.

To be called by someone who does not have Skred on their phone, you need to create a "Click to Call" link. Go to the Call tab (phone icon) and click on "Create a Click to Call" at the top. This will generate a QR code and a link that you can share with your contacts, allowing them to call you in audio or video from any device through their web browser. You can also customize the Click to Call settings to specify availability times or allow multiple people to call you at the same time. This feature is exclusive to premium users.

Spaces in Skred are designed to help you organize your use of the app according to different aspects of your life. For instance, you can create a Space for your professional activities and another for your personal life, adding only your friends' contacts to the latter. This allows you to set a specific profile picture for your social circle and another for your professional interactions. You have the flexibility to move contacts between Spaces as needed and customize each Space with its own ringtone and color theme.
Additionally, you can choose to make a Space secret by enabling its privacy function. To access a secret Space, go to the Space search feature and enter the exact name or the number you assigned to it. When a Space is set to secret, you won't receive call or message notifications from it in your other Spaces. Messages sent to a secret Space will only be visible when you enter that specific Space.
